When I use the same client inside the network where the asterisk box is, i can make local extension calls and also calls to the outside POTS network using my Digium TDM410 card without issue.. However when i connect from outside the network and through the DDWRT firewall then I can make a call for a couple of seconds only to the outside lines.. I have enabled even DMZ on my firewall, thinking perhaps something wasn't routed properly.. I am testing with a friend and when he tries to call the inside extensions we can answer but neither of us hears any audio.. Using Bria client from my iPhone for testing inside and outside.. Any thoughts?

Have you and your friend opened all the appropriate ports on both your firewall and his firewall? SIP/RSTP inbound ports have to be open in both directions.

I managed to fix it by modifying the nat conf file. It needed the external ip and internal IP mentioned inside, otherwise it was just working for a couple of seconds before it disconnected.
